Photos of Saka Kiln
Here are some photos taken at Saka Kiln in mid August.
The Saka clan has kept its Nobori-Gama, now nearly perished in Japanese pottery for its inefficiency in terms of cost and labour. Nevertheless the Saka kilns are conserved in original shapes till present day with unrelentless effort against current trend toward modernization. Nobori-Gama is reputed to produce ceramics with an effect none to be seen with ceramics from gas-powered kilns. The flickering lights from Nobori-Gama at night has an ethereal quality.
